April 2026

Tulum is beautiful year-round — but not equally beautiful, not equally busy, and not equally priced. Here's an honest, practical month-by-month guide to Tulum weather, crowds, and what to expect from each season.

The Best Time to Visit Tulum for Most Travelers

For Perfect Weather: November to April

This is the dry season in Tulum — six months of warm, clear days with very little rain. Temperatures hover between 27–31°C (80–88°F), the sea is calm, and the light is the kind that makes every photo look considered. If weather is your primary concern, any month in this window works.

For Fewer Crowds: May and November

The shoulder months around peak season offer the best of both worlds. May catches the tail end of dry season while the spring break crowds have dissipated. November marks the start of dry season before the December rush arrives. Both are genuinely lovely times to visit, with meaningful savings on accommodation.

For the Best Value: May, June, October

The rainy season isn't as dramatic as it sounds. Rain in Tulum typically comes in short afternoon bursts, then clears. Mornings are usually beautiful. If you're flexible on timing and want to stretch your budget, these months offer excellent value — particularly at beach zone properties where high-season rates can be significant.

"The best months to visit Tulum are often the ones people overlook. November and May deliver peak-season weather with half the crowds."

Tulum Weather by Season

Dry Season (November – April)

Six months of consistent sunshine, low humidity, and clear Caribbean water. This is the Tulum that most travelers are imagining when they book. The trade-off is price and crowds — this is when the beach zone is most active and accommodation is at its highest rates.

Rainy Season (May – October)

The Yucatán's rainy season is characterised by humidity, lush jungle, and daily showers that rarely last more than an hour or two. Hurricane activity peaks in August and September, though Tulum is rarely directly impacted. The landscape is intensely green, the cenotes are at their most beautiful, and the beach zone is significantly quieter.
